Animal Control

Domesticated animals (such as dogs and cats) that are found roaming freely or causing a public nuisance may be picked up by personnel from the Niceville Police Department. Please call 850-279-6436, ext.1200 if you need animal control assistance.

Once in custody, the animal is scanned for a microchip or other identifying information. It is then housed at the City Kennels—clean, climate-controlled facilities that are video-monitored and physically checked by staff multiple times a day. Animals are provided fresh water, food, and access to veterinary care if needed.

We make every effort to reunite lost pets with their owners. When possible, animals are transferred to regional shelters or adoption agencies. If those avenues are unavailable, we post photos and descriptions on social media in hopes of locating the owner.

If the owner cannot be identified or reached within seven days, and the animal is deemed healthy and adoptable, it will be made available for adoption through reputable sites and social media channels.

Licenses

City licenses for cats and dogs can be purchased at the Utility Billing Department.
