**NOTICE**

We’re currently a bit short staffed, and response times may be a little longer than usual.  For the quickest response, please email us at building@nicevillefl.gov for general permitting or BTR questions.  All inspection requests must be emailed into inspections@nicevillefl.gov.   Please know that your project is important to us, and we’re committed to completing all permits and reviews within statutory deadlines. We truly appreciate your patience as we work hard to assist you as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding and for working with us!

**NOTICE**

Inspection Request Policy

Inspection requests must be submitted no later than 12:00pm to be eligible for inspection on the next business day (schedule permitting). Requests received after the cut-off time will be scheduled for the following business day (schedule permitting), subject to inspector availability. Same-day inspections are not guaranteed. All inspections must be emailed into inspections@nicevillefl.gov.

Emergency or priority inspections may be approved at the discretion of the Building Official.


The Building and Inspections Division is a division of the Community Development Department.  The Division is responsible for issuing permits, reviewing building plans, and inspecting all aspects of construction—including structural, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, gas, fences, and signs. Our division ensures that every project complies with state and local building and land development codes.

*The City of Niceville has updated its building permit fee rates to better serve our growing community and ensure continued quality in inspections and services. These changes reflect current construction costs and help us maintain safety and efficiency for all projects.

To report a damaged or non-working street light please call FPL Northwest Florida at 800-225-5797 or visit their website. Any information, such as pole location or address where it is located, is appreciated. 

Building Code Information

The current adopted codes are:

  • 2023 Florida Building Codes, (8th Edition) which includes Residential, Building, Existing Building, Energy Conservation, Accessibility, Fuel and Gas, Plumbing, and Mechanical,
  • 2020 National Electrical Code (NFPA 70).  

The date for adoption of the 2023 Florida Building Code and 2020 National Electric Code was December 31, 2023.  

Wind speed design shall be in accordance with Chapter 3 of the Florida Building Code, Residential, or Chapter 16 of the Florida Building Code, Building. You can verify your wind speed by using the ASCE 7 Hazard Tool. The current adopted version is ASCE 7-22.
