THE CHILDREN'S PARK AND COVID-19
The City of Niceville reopened the Niceville Children’s Park on Wednesday, October 7, 2020. In order for everyone to be able to safely enjoy the park, face coverings are highly encouraged and visitors are asked to practice social distancing.
New hours of operation are in place. The park is open Wednesday through Saturday from 9:30 am until 4:30 pm, and Sunday from 12:30 – 4:30 pm. The park is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Parties are not allowed in the park at this time. Visitors may bring beverages such as bottled water or sodas (no glass containers), but food will not be permitted until further notice.
The Niceville Children's Park is located in the Civic Center Complex on Partin Drive North, across from Ruckel Middle School. We are proud of our beautiful park and strive to make it a clean, safe place to bring your children. We have courteous park attendants on duty who welcome your questions and concerns, and they are here to offer any assistance you may need while visiting the park. We work together to make the park a fun and happy place for children to come and play, and for adults to relax and enjoy watching them.
An adult must accompany children at all times while they are in the Children's Park.
The Park Rules are in place to protect the children and the equipment. We invite you to enjoy the park while working with us to ensure the safety of the children.
Walkways are available to allow easy access throughout the park. Seating areas with gazebos and cabanas are available where families and friends can share a meal. In the center of the park you will find an area with tables and umbrellas that will shade you while you are eating or resting. Drink machines available in that area. Bathroom facilities, including changing tables, are located in the Park.
Some of the attractions you will find in the park include age-appropriate equipment such as:
- Bubble Machine
- Monkey Bars
- Rock Climbing Structure
- Sandboxes with Pails & Shovels
The Spray Park
In the summer of 2006 we opened the Spray Park, which quickly became a popular place for children to have a great time cooling off during the hot days and warm evenings.
The Spray Park is open May through September. Hours of operation are 10 am - 5 pm Wednesday through Saturday and 1 pm - 5 pm on Sunday.
The Spray Park is only operational on weekends during the month of September.
Spray Park Features
The Spray Park has two palm trees: one that sprays water from the leaves, and one that has coconuts that fill up and drop water frequently, soaking those below. A Blue Heron will surprise children by soaking them as they walk by. Magic Mushrooms spray water all around and make a tent for the children to hide under while watching others play. The children have a great time cooling off during the hot days and warm evenings, and comfortable tables, chairs, and umbrellas are available for the adults to relax and enjoy watching the children play.
The City of Niceville will close the Children's Park whenever the safety of park visitors is in question. The park attendant may close the park at their discretion due to weather conditions. For example, the park will close when:
- The heat index exceeds 95°F
- The wind chill drops below 40°F
- It begins to rain (It takes approximately two hours for the park to dry sufficiently and reopen following rainfall)
- Lightning is spotted in the area
