Turkey Creek

Park Manager - Joe Caudill

Turkey Creek Nature Trail & Pavilion is a wonderful place to visit in Niceville. The City prides itself on providing a great place for gatherings under the pavilion, swim areas to bring the family to, and quiet spots to enjoy the beauty surrounding you. You'll see canoeing, kayaking, and tubing for all ages. Trail markers describe the vegetation along the boardwalk. There is truly something for everyone as you'll see in the pictures below.

The Boardwalk

The boardwalk has many places to stop along the way and enjoy the wildlife. You'll see turtles, ducks, many birds and more. An Eagle Scout project provided markers along the trail to identify the vegetation. There are swimming holes and rest areas with benches. Do you walk for exercise? What better place under the shade of the trees? The boardwalk is 3/4 of a mile one way, with markers at the 1/4 mile points.

Boardwalk Rules:
Do not feed the animals
No jumping or diving from walkway
No climbing on rails
No alcohol, glass containers, or pets
No skateboards, roller blades, skates, or bicycles
No food or drink, other than water, may be taken on the boardwalk beyond the pavilion

The walkway is open at 6:30 a.m. seven days a week. Closing times are seasonal and are posted at the facility. The City of Niceville provides free rides for senior citizens and physically handicapped persons. Please contact Joe Caudill at 642-0072 to schedule a ride or for more information about Turkey Creek Nature Trail and Pavilion.

Because of the generosity of Dr. Michael Mihalcik, we were able to put together a project to establish a quiet area on Turkey Creek. This area is open to everyone, but with a special emphasis on living parents who have lost a son or daughter. For those who have lost a child, you have the opportunity to place a plaque provided by Bay Area Award's in this special area. Please contact Joanne Young with Compassionate Friends at 243-6253, or the City's Administrative Office at (850) 279-6436 for details. Flyer
