How can I have my fingerprints taken for employment and/or licensing?

Fingerprint cards are provided by the employer or licensing agency that is requiring you to have them done. The Niceville Police Department does not provide applicant cards. All personal information should be filled out completely in black ink on the front of the fingerprint card PRIOR to coming to the police department.
There is a $2.00 per card charge for this service, and should be in correct change, since monies are turned in on a regular basis, and change is not always available. Government issued photo identification is also required (Military I.D., State Driver's License, Etc.)
This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Back to FAQ

How do I get a copy of a police report?

Police reports handled by the Niceville Police Department are released in accordance with the State of Florida's Public Records Act. Reports are available when completed and can be picked up in person, faxed locally, or mailed if a self addressed, stamped envelope is submitted.
Motor vehicle crash records are confidential for a period of 60 days from the date the crash is reported. However, the parties and vehicle owners involved in the crash, their legal representatives, their insurance companies and agents, and prosecutorial authorities may receive a copy of the report upon its completion. Commonly accepted photo identification must be presented at the time the report is received.
In order to minimize wait time when you come in to pick up a report, you may submit a request for a copy to be printed and waiting for you. A request may be made by telephone (850-729-4045), by mail or in person (Niceville Police Department Attn: Records, 212 N Partin Dr, Niceville, FL 32578), or by submitting a request by email with the information on the request form above. After placing a request, you will be notified when the report is complete and a copy is ready for pick up.

Tell me about worthless checks...

There are several types of worthless checks: stop payment, closed account, forgery, and insufficient funds. Checks that are returned by the bank because of a stop payment, written on a closed account, of forged are all considered criminal in nature, and should be brought to the niceville police department, along with any additional information pertaining to the transaction.
Insufficient funds checks are handled directly by the state attorney's office at 1-b 9th avenue in Shalimar, Florida across from the Shalimar Courthouse Annex. For more information about reporting an insufficient funds check, contact the State Attorney's office at 850-651-7260.

Tell me about background checks...

Criminal history background checks are available in person at the administration office of the Niceville Police Department Monday through Friday 7am-12 and 1pm-4pm. This background check will give only information pertaining to arrests made by the Niceville Police Department.
For a statewide criminal history, we suggest you go to http://www.fdle.state.fl.us and follow their links. Be aware there is a charge for their service, however information will be provided to all arrests made in the State of Florida, not just the City of Niceville.
For criminal history information in another state, we suggest you use an internet search engine of your choice and enter '(state) criminal history records'.

HOUSE CHECKS

The house check program is designed for citizens of Niceville to request periodic checks of their residence while they are out of town.
House check forms must be submitted in person at the dispatch window located inside the lobby of the Niceville Police Department. This office is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Forms may be picked up and completed at the dispatch window, or you can print out a form in advance for your convenience.

GUN LOCK PROGRAM

'PROJECT CHILDSAFE' is a nationwide program to help ensure safe and responsible firearms ownership and storage, developed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation and supported by a U.S. Department of Justice grant.
The Niceville Police Department has received over 1,300 safety kits through Project ChildSafe, which will be distributed free of charge to local residents. These safety kits include a cable-style gun lock and safety brochure. See instruction sheet.
All residents who have a firearm in the home are encouraged to stop by the police department for a free safety kit. They are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at the dispatch window inside the police department. These kits will be available while supplies last.
Remember, firearms should always be stored in a location inaccessible to children and other unauthorized persons. Ammunition should be stored in a separate location.
We feel that if even one accident or death can be prevented through Project ChildSafe, our participation in the program will have been worth the effort.
If you have questions, or would like more information on Project ChildSafe, please visit their website at www.projectchildsafe.org.

RUOK?

The R.U.O.K? Program is a free service of the Niceville Police Department to conduct a daily check of the elderly or homebound citizens who live inside the city limits of Niceville.
R.U.O.K will call the participant daily at the time they choose during the interview process. If there is no answer, the computer will alert the Communications Officer to dispatch an officer to their home to make sure there is no emergency. If the participant goes on vacation or into the hospital, they just call the police department, and calls will be halted during their time away from home.
To participate in the program, citizens will provide pertinent information needed in the time of an emergency such as emergency contact, next of kin, personal physician, medications, medical conditions and key holder information. This information can save valuable time during an emergency. For information, check out our flyer.
