With the success of his 2008 chart-topper "Home," Blake Shelton took a long career step forward. With the release of Startin' Fires, he leaps to a whole new level. "Home" took Shelton into new musical territory, stretching him vocally and stylistically, helping him expand his audience to include those who might have missed the more traditional approach he'd taken to that point. Startin' Fires, his fifth album, completes that journey, establishing him in the process as one of country music's most talented and versatile song stylists. "This is something I've been wanting to do," he says, "exploring richer melodies and challenging myself as a singer." MORE...

Back To Tennessee is much more than just another album in one man’s remarkable and enduring career. This is an extremely meaningful homecoming in that man’s singular journey back to the musical roots that have long sustained him. “This album is everything I am at this second,” says Cyrus. “It’s everything that I’ve been through and every step along the way to this point -- Ironically, sometimes looking back, in my case BACK TO TENNESEE, is the best way to move forward.”
Sitting in the slightly cluttered but welcoming music room that is his refuge of his Los Angeles home, with his trusty dog Tex by his side, Cyrus explains that the initial spark for Back To Tennessee was struck when Cyrus recorded “Real Gone” with Mark Bright, the Grammy-winning Nashville producer perhaps best known for his work with Rascal Flatts. Right from the start, it was clear that working with Bright brought out the very best in Cyrus. True to the song’s title, “Real Gone” (written by Sheryl Crow and John Shanks) captured Cyrus at his most rocking and most real. MORE...

Everyone has heard the phrase “practice makes perfect” and though it’s a mantra more often associated with sports than songwriting, it’s just as apropos for that vocation as any other endeavor--just ask singer/songwriter Chuck Wicks.
Though he took the country format by storm with his Top 5 debut single, “Stealing Cinderella,” and his Top 15 follow-up hit, “All I Ever Wanted” (and recently earned a whole new audience of fans as a celebrity contestant paired with real-life girlfriend Julianne Hough on the ABC mega-hit Dancing with the Stars), it hasn’t all come easy. Wicks spent several years paying his dues by parking cars and writing songs. He developed his craft, apprenticing with some of the top songwriters on Music Row. That hard work pays off on Starting Now, Wicks’ RCA Nashville debut album, which showcases the depth of his artistry as a vocalist and songwriter. MORE...

.Caliber is all about playing music that is true and from the soul. The band first formed in March of 2006 and was originally know as Reckless Abandon. In early 2007 they added their good friend and front man Hunter Phelps to the line up and changed their name to .CALIBER. Originally the band played mostly cover songs but has since progressed to playing all their originals while still playing cover songs from rock and country icons. The band is currently working on recording their 3rd album and already have a number of songs ready for their forth album. CALIBER is all about keeping the music true and pure. It seems that today's music is too often clouded and polished by the industry in an attempt to 'market the masses'. One thing remains true in the music industry........if it's good, people will like it no matter what genre you're going for.

If you’re looking for an artist with the bona fide credentials to sing a country song, look no further. Rodney Atkins’ latest album, If You’re Going Through Hell, captures every aspect of his life, from his humble, multiple-adoption beginning, to his rural east Tennessee upbringing, to his present-day, stick to your roots convictions. And judging by his breakout success in 2006—If You’re Going Through Hell, recently certified gold, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard country albums chart; the title track spent four weeks atop the Billboard country singles chart, earning Billboard Most Played Song of 2006 and SESAC Song of the Year honors. The follow-up single, “Watching You,” written by Rodney about his son, Elijah, spent 2 weeks at #1 on both the Billboard and Mediabase charts —life is pretty good.

Lives and careers have tipping points, days when investments pay off and when a bunch of scattered puzzle pieces suddenly fit together. Jason Aldean doesn’t have to think long when asked to call up his top game changing moment of 2006. 'We were playing a show in Portland, Oregon. It was a little club, just an acoustic show,' says the Macon, Georgia native. ''Hicktown' (Aldean's first single) had been doing okay. It was probably 25 on the chart or something. The club was basically sold out. And we went into 'Hicktown,' and the place just went crazy.' 'Hicktown,' propelled by a spanking beat and a girls-gone-hillbilly-wild video, would go Top 10 before long, but that’s the night it found its place in the full-roar, sing-along party that is Jason Aldean’s groove. 'We couldn’t even hear ourselves for people singing to us,' he recalls. 'And that was the first time when I got the feeling that we had a hit. We had had pretty decent crowds at our shows, but it seems like from that show on things turned a corner. You get that kind of feedback and it hits you that you may end up having a career.' A year after that show, the whole career thing looks better than ever.

Strength, versatility and a spunky sense of adventure are qualities more often associated with literary heroines than successful country singers, but then there's nothing typical about Sara Evans. Whether dominating country radio airwaves with one of her many hit singles or attracting a new legion of fans with her spirited turn on 'Dancing with the Stars,' Evans' drive, talent and determination have placed her in an elite class of artists who transcend musical genres to become a household name. Her musical accomplishments are celebrated with the release of 'Sara Evans—Greatest Hits.' The 14-song collection features 10 of Evans' signature songs as well as four inspired new songs, worthy of taking their place alongside such modern classics as 'No Place That Far,' 'A Real Fine Place to Start,' and 'Born to Fly.'

Jeff Fiorello is an emerging singer-songwriter whose unique, catchy acoustic rock sound carries a laid back Southern vibe. Most call him Fio (Pronounced Fee-Oh) – so you may as well do the same. He grew up in Niceville, FL, USA and got on to the pop scene while attending Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. There, he began writing seriously and formed his own band, Rustic, that played the college circuit in North Carolina. In 2004 and 2005, he joined his good friends and fellow musicians in FreeMonica. Then, in 2005, Jeff got the opportunity of a lifetime by landing an internship with NBC Saturday Night Live (SNL). With this opportunity in hand, he packed his gear and headed to New York City. While serving his internship with SNL, he played solo gigs around the city and decided to pursue a career in entertainment in earnest. In 2006, he completed his first CD at Tainted Blue Studios in NYC with producer/drummer Ron Thaler and released his debut album in November 2006.

42 Ultimate Hits ~ By now, Kenny Rogers has become such an icon that it’s easy to forget how he got there. The songs on 42 Ultimate Hits, bringing together the top songs of his career from the late 60s First Edition years up to his current return to the charts, offers a crash-course reminder that Rogers is a star because he excels at his craft.
Just look at the titles: 'Lady,' 'Ruby Don't Take Your Love to Town,' 'The Gambler,' 'She Believes in Me,' 'Islands in the Stream,' 'We’ve Got Tonight,' 'Buy Me A Rose.' Not a ditty among them. Then listen. The sweetly raspy vocals are instantly identifiable as Kenny Rogers - he sounds like nobody else. More importantly, he inhabits each song, making it vivid and tangible. For more than five decades, Rogers has delivered memorable songs, drawing fans among rock, pop, soul and country audiences. . When one singer makes such an indelible mark, that’s not mere luck or even simple talent. 'I really, really love what I’m doing,' Rogers says. 'People survive longer if they love what they’re doing. Because you just don’t quit.'

Every song Keith sings sounds like a hit, and the proof is in his Top 10 debut, 'Pickin’ Wildflowers,' and his most recent Top 10 hit, 'Every Time I Hear Your Name,' both off of his Arista Records debut Three Chord Country and American Rock & Roll, and both accompanied by #1 music videos. He’d already proven himself as an ace songwriter with the Grammy-nominated 'Beer Run (B Double E Double Are You In?),' recorded as a duet by Garth Brooks and George Jones, and 'The Bed,' recorded by the multi-Platinum Gretchen Wilson as a vocal event with Big & Rich.

Back again this year ~ Blake Shelton wrote songs as a teenager and honed his performing style as he played honky-tonk bars and became a regular on a local country music show. At 17, Shelton met Mae Boren Axton, the late Nashville songwriter ('Heartbreak Hotel'). She told him to move to Nashville if he wanted a successful country music singing career. Two weeks out of high school in 1994, Shelton packed his guitar and headed to Nashville. In 1997, he was co-writing with a friend who tipped off songwriter/producer Bobby Braddock. Braddock ultimately served as the producer for Shelton's self-titled debut on Warner Bros. Nashville. His debut single, 'Austin,' stayed at No. 1 on Billboard's singles chart for five weeks, tying Billy Ray Cyrus' record for a debut single. Shelton also reached No. 1 for three weeks with 'The Baby' in 2003. He spent most of the year on the road with Toby Keith, and married his high school sweetheart. In 2004, he released the studio album Blake Shelton's Barn & Grill.

Great musicians will always find a way to make good music, but for great musicians to make great music, they must find a bond – one that more often than not goes beyond the purely musical to the personal. For the Grascals, that bond has been forged at the intersection of personal friendships, shared professional resumes and an appreciation for the innovative mingling of bluegrass and country music that has been a hallmark of the Nashville scene for more than forty years. Whether they’re offering one of their original songs and instrumentals, reworking an classic like 'Teardrops In My Eyes,' breathing new life into the Osborne Brothers’ 'Leavin’s Heavy On My Mind' or interpreting bluegrass-country songwriter Harley Allen’s 'Me And John And Paul,' the Grascals' rare musical empathy gives them an unerring ear for just the right touch to illuminate each one's deepest spirit.

Near the end of the title cut and opening song of Travis Tritt's latest album, the acclaimed and accomplished country star unleashes a ferocious growl. "The sound of outlaw music sets me free," he roars, setting the tone for a collection that is startling in its forcefulness--even, perhaps, curiously so. That Tritt would record an album of Southern rock- and blues-steeped country music is no surprise at all, however. For it is precisely that flavor of the genre for which Tritt first gained notoriety, earning a reputation as country's 'new outlaw' long before invoking the names Waylon and Cash became fashionable among upstart artists.

Lonestar has used soaring, passionate vocals to launch such huge hits as 'Amazed,' 'My Front Porch Looking In' (the most-played country song of 2003) and 'I'm Already There,' a special favorite of the military and their families and BMI/ASCAP Song Of The Year for 2002. The group has found its emotional essence powered by the national post-9/11 appetite for songs that come from and target the heart. Nevertheless, the group has remained firmly committed to using the greatest resource Nashville offers -- the co-writing aid of some of the world's finest. Those listed on Let's Be Us Again include Bob DiPiero, Jeffrey Steele, Billy Dean, Chris Waters, Don Pfrimmer, Tom Shapiro, Frank Myers, Brett James and Ron Harbin. The new CD thus mines some of the best melodic and lyrical expertise in Music City as well as the best of Lonestar.

Willmon — a Texan through and through — did it his way. "One of the mistakes that I did early on when I first moved to town was trying to fit into the Nashville mold," he says. "Actually, that wasn't really a mistake, because it taught me to be a more poignant songwriter: I learned that I couldn't just write things that appealed to me. And then when I got my band back together and started playing the honky-tonks again, I found a happy medium and my own little niche where people would come see us and relate to what we were doing, but I could still be me. That's why, at the end of the day, even if this record flops or doesn't do anything, I'm still extremely proud of it." Hear songs like 'So Am I' and 'Good One Comin' On'. While the abundance and quality of his own songs on the record put Willmon in that all-too-rare class of mainstream country artists who can write as well as they sing, he brings the same level of passion and commitment to the handful of songs by outside writers, including "A Night in the Ground" and the first single, "On Again Tonight."
