2007 HEADLINERS:

KENNY ROGERS

Kenny Rogers

42 Ultimate Hits ~ By now, Kenny Rogers has become such an icon that it’s easy to forget how he got there. The songs on 42 Ultimate Hits, bringing together the top songs of his career from the late 60s First Edition years up to his current return to the charts, offers a crash-course reminder that Rogers is a star because he excels at his craft.
Just look at the titles: 'Lady,' 'Ruby Don't Take Your Love to Town,' 'The Gambler,' 'She Believes in Me,' 'Islands in the Stream,' 'We’ve Got Tonight,' 'Buy Me A Rose.' Not a ditty among them. Then listen. The sweetly raspy vocals are instantly identifiable as Kenny Rogers - he sounds like nobody else. More importantly, he inhabits each song, making it vivid and tangible. For more than five decades, Rogers has delivered memorable songs, drawing fans among rock, pop, soul and country audiences. .
When one singer makes such an indelible mark, that’s not mere luck or even simple talent. 'I really, really love what I’m doing,' Rogers says. 'People survive longer if they love what they’re doing. Because you just don’t quit.'

Gary Allan

Gary Allan

Gary Allan is a critically acclaimed artist that has sold over 5 million records on his own terms. He has released back to back to back Platinum albums and landed back to back number one singles at country radio. The sexy swagger of his live show tempered with a rugged yet warm voice has earned him legions of loyal fans. In mass they flock to concert halls across the country where Allan is on a streak, breaking attendance records from California over to Kentucky and down to Texas. In 2006 alone, Allan played live for over 1 million people. All the while, Allan has remained true to his musical identity and his one-of-a-kind style. He is quick to speak his mind and unafraid to take risks that would make most artists shudder.

Keith Anderson

Keith Anderson

Every song Keith sings sounds like a hit, and the proof is in his Top 10 debut, 'Pickin’ Wildflowers,' and his most recent Top 10 hit, 'Every Time I Hear Your Name,' both off of his Arista Records debut Three Chord Country and American Rock & Roll, and both accompanied by #1 music videos. He’d already proven himself as an ace songwriter with the Grammy-nominated 'Beer Run (B Double E Double Are You In?),' recorded as a duet by Garth Brooks and George Jones, and 'The Bed,' recorded by the multi-Platinum Gretchen Wilson as a vocal event with Big & Rich.

BLAKE SHELTON

Blake Shelton

Back again this year ~ Blake Shelton wrote songs as a teenager and honed his performing style as he played honky-tonk bars and became a regular on a local country music show. At 17, Shelton met Mae Boren Axton, the late Nashville songwriter ('Heartbreak Hotel'). She told him to move to Nashville if he wanted a successful country music singing career. Two weeks out of high school in 1994, Shelton packed his guitar and headed to Nashville.
In 1997, he was co-writing with a friend who tipped off songwriter/producer Bobby Braddock. Braddock ultimately served as the producer for Shelton's self-titled debut on Warner Bros. Nashville. His debut single, 'Austin,' stayed at No. 1 on Billboard's singles chart for five weeks, tying Billy Ray Cyrus' record for a debut single. Shelton also reached No. 1 for three weeks with 'The Baby' in 2003. He spent most of the year on the road with Toby Keith, and married his high school sweetheart. In 2004, he released the studio album Blake Shelton's Barn & Grill.

THE GRASCALS

Grascals

Great musicians will always find a way to make good music, but for great musicians to make great music, they must find a bond – one that more often than not goes beyond the purely musical to the personal. For the Grascals, that bond has been forged at the intersection of personal friendships, shared professional resumes and an appreciation for the innovative mingling of bluegrass and country music that has been a hallmark of the Nashville scene for more than forty years.
Whether they’re offering one of their original songs and instrumentals, reworking an classic like 'Teardrops In My Eyes,' breathing new life into the Osborne Brothers’ 'Leavin’s Heavy On My Mind' or interpreting bluegrass-country songwriter Harley Allen’s 'Me And John And Paul,' the Grascals' rare musical empathy gives them an unerring ear for just the right touch to illuminate each one's deepest spirit.

2006 HEADLINERS:

TRAVIS TRITT

Travis Tritt

Near the end of the title cut and opening song of Travis Tritt's latest album, the acclaimed and accomplished country star unleashes a ferocious growl. "The sound of outlaw music sets me free," he roars, setting the tone for a collection that is startling in its forcefulness--even, perhaps, curiously so.
That Tritt would record an album of Southern rock- and blues-steeped country music is no surprise at all, however. For it is precisely that flavor of the genre for which Tritt first gained notoriety, earning a reputation as country's 'new outlaw' long before invoking the names Waylon and Cash became fashionable among upstart artists.

LONESTAR

Lonestar

Lonestar has used soaring, passionate vocals to launch such huge hits as 'Amazed,' 'My Front Porch Looking In' (the most-played country song of 2003) and 'I'm Already There,' a special favorite of the military and their families and BMI/ASCAP Song Of The Year for 2002. The group has found its emotional essence powered by the national post-9/11 appetite for songs that come from and target the heart.
Nevertheless, the group has remained firmly committed to using the greatest resource Nashville offers -- the co-writing aid of some of the world's finest. Those listed on Let's Be Us Again include Bob DiPiero, Jeffrey Steele, Billy Dean, Chris Waters, Don Pfrimmer, Tom Shapiro, Frank Myers, Brett James and Ron Harbin. The new CD thus mines some of the best melodic and lyrical expertise in Music City as well as the best of Lonestar.

TRENT WILLMON

Trent Willmon

Willmon — a Texan through and through — did it his way. "One of the mistakes that I did early on when I first moved to town was trying to fit into the Nashville mold," he says. "Actually, that wasn't really a mistake, because it taught me to be a more poignant songwriter: I learned that I couldn't just write things that appealed to me. And then when I got my band back together and started playing the honky-tonks again, I found a happy medium and my own little niche where people would come see us and relate to what we were doing, but I could still be me. That's why, at the end of the day, even if this record flops or doesn't do anything, I'm still extremely proud of it." Hear songs like 'So Am I' and 'Good One Comin' On'.
While the abundance and quality of his own songs on the record put Willmon in that all-too-rare class of mainstream country artists who can write as well as they sing, he brings the same level of passion and commitment to the handful of songs by outside writers, including "A Night in the Ground" and the first single, "On Again Tonight."

THE ALLEY CATS

Alley Cats

Back to entertain us again, America's premier Doo-Wop group. By bringing their own contemporary style to the tunes from the 50s and 60s, THE ALLEY CATS appeal to fans of all ages, breathing new life into everyone's favorite doo-wop classics.
The four members of THE ALLEY CATS are a perfect blend both vocally and personally. More than a decade after they began, Royce Reynolds, whose solid bass vocals create the Cats' musical foundation, and Mando Fonseca, the second tenor always ready with a pun or quick quip, have the ease of familiarity which make their camaraderie and vocal play radiate from the stage. Baritone John O'Campo, whose smooth vocals melt hearts the world over, and newest member, Sean Devine, recreator of all those soaring 50s first tenor lines, bring their freshness and talent to an already solid foundation of a cappella tradition. Together, they are truly the Cat's meow!

2005 HEADLINERS:

THE CHARLIE
DANIELS BAND

Charlie Daniels Band

When you hear a classic Charlie Daniels Band performance like 'The Devil Went Down to Georgia,' you hear music that knows no clear genre. Is it a folk tale? A southern boogie? A country fiddle tune? An electric rock anthem? The answer is 'yes' to all of that and more. And the same goes for 'In America,' 'Uneasy Rider,' 'The South's Gonna Do It,' 'Long Haired Country Boy,' and the rest of a catalog that spans more than 35 years of record making and represents more than 18 million in sales.
The band includes Charlie Daniels, Taz Di Gregorio, Charlie Hayward, Bruce Brown, Pat McDonald, and Mark Matejka.

TERRI CLARK
Terri Clark

As USA Today deemed the ravishing power vocalist, an unrepentant honky tonker in an era of divas. The Washington Post proclaimed, 'it's refreshing to find a tough-talking cowgirl still keeping it rootsy and real.' The New York Post effusively raved, 'no honky tonk angel just an earthy woman who sings about living life to the max, refreshingly full of twang and bang.' Terri Clark keeps her eyes on the horizon.     Terri Clark is about moving beyond what can into what could be. She’s a lover of dreams, an empowerer of people, a good time waiting to happen, a shoulder to cry on when necessary and a bolster when needed. But more than anything, she embodies the traditions and “something real” that is the essence of true country music.

HOT APPLE PIE
Hot Apple Pie

The story of Hot Apple Pie begins with Brady Seals. During his 1991-95 tenure in Little Texas, Seals blossomed as a writer. In 2002, he called guitarist Sparky Matejka and drummer Trey Landry, who had been in his band when he was a solo artist, and they decided to form a new group. Matejka had a degree in jazz and had played for Charley Daniels, the Kinleys and Sons of the Desert. While playing for Wayne Toups, Landry met Rodney Crowell on a cruise, and Crowell introduced him to Seals. Richard Landis, a producer who had worked with Seals' wife Lisa Stewart, heard the band's new songs and agreed to produce them. They hired versatile musician Keith Horne as a bass player and entered the studio in 2003. The first four songs they recorded ended up on their CD, which will be released by DreamWorks in 2005.

MUSTANG SALLY
Mustang Sally

Mustang Sally is hot, hip and cool. They are based in Nashville, but it has taken telephones and airplanes, luck and timing to bring them together to create what is arguably the best all-girl touring band in the nation.     They are touring with a stage full of musical instruments, a ton of great songs, and a show that rocks. It is a recipe that has been drawing crowds from coast to coast.

ROCKAPELLA
Rockapella

Long ago and far away in Providence, Rhode Island, a few young men began something which over the next decade would build from a collegiate hobby into a national phenomenon...
Often imitated; never duplicated, this certifiably unique pop musical group has taken the previously stodgy music genre of a cappella and brought it full-force into the 21st century. Their story is like no other, and they create a sound and impression like no one else!

FISHTANK BAND
Fish Tank Band

The Fishtank Band members are Mike Renna, Donovan Lara, Craig Canedy, Mark Domzalski, and Chris Price.     Mike Renna has been thrilling audiences for over fifteen years. As an accomplished piano player and singer, drawing easy comparisons to legends like Billy Joel and Elton John. Donovan has been playing drums for almost 20 years and has performed in just about every genre possible. Craig Martin Canedy has been a lover, player, and composer of music all his life. A native of Augusta, Georgia, Mark Domzalski has been playing guitar, bass, mandolin, and anything with strings for over 25 years. His style of playing encompasses several techniques, ranging from hybrid-country fingerpicking to electric slide and hard rockin' blues. Chris Price, the low end of the group, adds yet another dynamic to the band with his soul infused style and tasteful licks.

DREAD CLAMPITT
Dread Clampitt

Dread Clampitt's members are Balder Saunders, Kyle Ogle, Justin Lewis Price-Rees, and Duke Bardwell. They are a local favorite we look forward to having at the Mullet Festival!
