June 2009


   June 10th-"Art in a Bag" contest - "Picturing America" is our contest theme for grades 1-3 and grades 4-5. The contest runs the entire summer. Supplies will be provided while they last. Art deadline is July 23rd. Entries will be judged and prizes awarded at summer finale program July 29th. Stop by YS for your contest guidelines and supplies beginning June 10th.

   June 10th-"Be Creative @ Your Library" this summer! - Summer reading open house is from 11:00-1:00 in Youth Services. This is your first opportunity to pick up your Reading Logs, Suggested Summer Reading Lists, a schedule of all summer events as well as give-aways, drawings and everyone will "Be Creative" with sidewalk chalk art. Weekly reading programs begin Wed. June 17th.

   June 12th-Baby Bookworms - This lapsit program consists of music, stories and rhymes especially chosen to build the bond between you and your child. Program is suited for children from birth to age 3. Please meet in YS program room on Fridays, Prewalkers 9:30, Walkers 10:30.

   June 19th-"Didgeridoo Down Under" - Australian performer, Darren Liebman, presents a one-of-a-kind entertaining and educational show for all ages. The show incorporates spirit healing sounds of the didgeridoo and the Aboriginal culture behind it. Program will be held in the Council Chambers at 10:30 a.m.

   June 24th-Summer Book Discussion - sponsored by the Friends of the Library: "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" by Betty Smith at 10:00 a.m. in the library. Holds can be placed online by email or you can call 729-4090.

July 2009


   July 18th-The Wounded Warrior Project is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mullet Festival in Niceville. Sponsored by the Eglin Aero Modelers Club, events will include radio controlled flying exhibitions with an immense amount of local support. Admission is free , live band, food vendors, exhibits by military, raffles a fun day for the whole family. All proceeds (100 %) will be donated to the wounded warrior project their mission is to help our returning wounded military in every possible way.
